Charlie Villanueva wants Pistons fans to simmer
Written by Bob Biscigliano

Charlie V has a message to those anxious, nervous wreck, Pistons fans out there looking to hit the panic button:

cv31panic

Sadly, the boos could have been coming from traveling Pistons fans, too.

((And who cares if Milwaukee was booing? He's an enemy now and I know it might come as a surprise, but his three solid, but still just slightly above average years in Milwaukee probably doesn't preempt true homers from booing when he comes back in as part of the opposition.  And it doesn't even compare to Brett Favre getting booed in Green Bay.  In fact, I think if I was a Green Bay fan, I would cheer Favre before even think about booing because his 16 years and Super Bowl would mean much more to me than a measly year with the Vikings.  CV31 didn't exactly bring winning to Milwaukee considering the Bucks were in the basement of the Central all three seasons. I digress.))

Charlie Villanueva has not had a desirable start to the season, averaging just nine points on 37% shooting and four rebounds.

If there's one thing that pisses me off as a die-hard sports fan, it's fans that waver in their support like Brett Favre on retirement.  It's three games (4% of the season) into the season of a team that is predominantly new, under a new coach.  People expect Charlie Villanueva, who just recently returned from a hammy injury, in a new system, and is ill, to be putting up 20 & 10.

Let's get real.

CV31 is not a defensive prowess and he may never be, but the dude can play and is going to be a valuable asset on a Pistons team that is already on the way up before it really even had a chance to fall.  The Pistons are going to sputter some this season as is expected from a fresh-look team.  Let's simmer down and re-assess it when we get, say, at least 1/8 into the season.

I think Pistons fans, myself included, expected better play. I think we're realistic about who these guys are, we just thought the games would be a tad more competitive.

As far as Charlie, why wouldn't the Milwaukee fans boo? They wouldn't be much of fans if they were cheering Charlie on as he plays their team.
